My familiarity with The Great Gatsby is limited. I read it once in high school and the only thing I remember is a green light and a God billboard. High school was also almost ten years ago for me and I don’t remember anything else. There’s a car wreck if I remember correctly. I haven’t seen any of the movies either. I worked at a fairly large movie theatre when the 2013 film adaptation came out and I’m a little bit traumatized from that weekend. It was busy and people were not kind. I’m not sure if being jaded because of a movie counts as a paratext necessarily, but I definitely am!
